A Guide To Fantastic Beasts

By now pretty much all of you should know that on the 17th we will be cast back into the Wizarding World with Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.


The film written by J.K Rowling (Author of the Harry Potter books) and directed by David Yates (Director of films 3-8) is a spin off to Harry Potter set 70 years before his events took place. It follows the wizard, Newt Scamander throughout his journeys in North America chasing down Beasts and documenting them.

Cast Guide

Newt Scamander is played by Oscar Winner Eddie Redmayne who recently played a transgender man in The Danish Girl. Newt Scamander is an up and coming Magizoologist. He was expelled from Hogwarts and worked at the Ministry Of Magic for 2 years. When he was commissioned to write a field guide on creatures throughout the world. However in New York all of the beasts he has collected in his suitcase have escaped.

Tina Goldstein played by Katherine Waterston was recently in Steve Jobs as his ex-wife. Tina works in ‘The Magical Congress of the United States of America. She is grounded and ambitious and is the assumed love interest of Newt.

Dan Fogler plays No-Maj (Muggle or Non Magic Folk) Jacob Kowalski. We do not yet know how he is involved in Newts adventure but he is described as Optimistic.

Aliso Sudol mostly know for her work on soundtracks plays Tinas younger sister. She is Free Spirited and Big Hearted and has the power to read minds alike Snape and Dumbledore.

There is also an unkown character played by Perks of Being A Wallflower star, Erza Miller.

Grindelwald played by Johnny Depp could also show up as a tease for the sequels for more on the sequels I wrote a blog post about it.

James Newton Howard is composing most famous for The Hunger Gameswhich is suprising that they wouldn’t ask John Williams again seing he composed the Harry Potter series.


The film is based on a novel wrote by J.K for charity. Which was based on the textbook Harry reads in class obviously written by Newt Scamander.

More Information

The film will feature the American magic school Ilvermorny which had a house quiz added to Pottermore.

At the point of writing the film has 24/24 positive reviews and is sitting on 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

Box Office Predictions

The film had a budget of $180 Million and is predicted to make $210,000,000.
